I registered this site in 1999 mainly as a place to make a site dedicated to my car. That site is still on the domain, but I don’t do anything with it anymore. I also use it to host quite a few pictures that I have taken over the past couple of years.
Currently, I’m using the domain to post about stuff that interests or bothers me. No set theme really, just whatever I feel like posting. Sometimes job related annoyances, or, perhaps, just being annoyed at not having a job at times. Tech related stuff. Car related stuff. Whatever. And I’m not too consistent in my posting. Sometimes I’ll do several things a week, but at other times, I might go a week or two between postings. Just whatever I’m in the mood to do.
Currently, the site is run using Wordpress. It’s a blogging system that just makes managing things a bit easier than editing HTML all the time. I’ll occassionaly, purely on accident, learn a little bit about CSS or PHP or SQL. I’ll get an idea in my head and try to make it work, and that’ll usually require learning something. I guess that’s not so bad. The theme is mostly of my own making, but it started off looking like this. For comparison purposes, here is what the site looked like when I ran MovableType up until May of 2004.
The site is currently hosted at JaguarPC, which is it’s second host. I think I’ve been with them since the beginning of 2002, but my memory is a bit foggy on that. I currently have 1GB of storage and 10GB of monthly bandwidth on my plan. At some point in the future I think I’ll look in to getting myself a virtual dedicated server, just so I can learn a bit about running a “real” webserver.
