Podrunner: Intervals Week 7 Day 1

Today I did the first run of Podrunner: Intervals Week 7. It involved a 25 minute run. I set the treadmill at a 10:20 pace and managed to keep myself running at that same speed the entire time. I think I covered around 2.41 miles running, plus the warm up and cool down time walking, for a total of right at 3.0 miles.

I used an ice pack on my knees when I got home because of some pain and bruising. They feel fine now, a couple hours later. I think I’ll stick to the three days a week that is recommended, instead of trying to push myself with more running. Do a little weight lifting and elliptical (I tried that yesterday for 15 minutes — challenging!) and stationary bike on the other days.

Podrunner Interval week 6 mix 2

I just finished running week 6 mix 2 of Podrunner: Intervals. It has two 10 minute runs with a 3 minute walk in between. I’m supposed to match my running to the beats of the music, but I’m never able to get it just right on the treadmill, so I just go at a comfortable pace. Today, that was faster than I did the 20 minute run the other day. I didn’t feel quite as exhausted at the end, maybe the break in the middle helped? Maybe I’m getting in better shape? Sure wish the weight would go away too!

Podrunner: Intervals

For the past several weeks I’ve been running & walking to the podcasts at Podrunner, more specifically, the First day to 5k series. It’s provided me with a semi-disciplined way of exercising. Today I finished up week 5 of the series which had me running 20 minutes straight — I haven’t done that in probably 10 years! I was pretty tired at the end but I managed to complete the run. Now I need to ice my knees.
