My weekend…

Sunday, September 28th, 2003

Well, I’ve been sick since Thursday. Woke up Thursday morning with the mother of all colds and I’ve been fighting it ever since. But, that wasn’t going to stop me from going to the 2003 James Dean Festival in Fairmount, Indiana. I’m not really a James Dean fan, really don’t know much about him at all, I just go for the neat car show they have. LOTS and LOTS of old cars from the 30’s – 70’s. You name it, and it’s probably there.

My favorite car to see was probably an unrestored, single owner 1969 Shelby GT350. Beautiful car. There were lots of custom Mercury leadsleds there, they looked simply spectacular. A 1949 Ford was on display that belonged to Dean’s family, as well as a replica of the Porsche that he died in.

Got my new muffler

Saturday, September 13th, 2003

I had my cousin weld on my new DynoMax SuperTurbo muffler on Friday. The car is MUCH quieter, even compared to before the old Flowmaster had holes in it. If there’s any power difference, I can’t feel it. Cuz did a good weld job too…

All the muffler pics. While the car was on the lift, I looked around at the free paint job I got back in July/August.. I sure am glad I didn’t pay for the front bumper. The pics should speak for themselves..

Rainy Day

We had a little rain today. Mom’s neighborhood has somewhat flooded.

But I managed to make us some dinner. Ribs and biscuits. She made potato salad and fried corn.

Some more ducklings..

Sunday, June 8th, 2003

Saw some ducklings swimming around tonight. Not sure if they are the same ones we saw a month ago or not. But there’s only three of them now, there were ten eggs when they hatched.

More pictures of the fire

Sunday, June 1st, 2003

Went to my cousin’s house and got some more pictures of the gutted house. Everything has been pretty much cleared out of the house now, just an empty shell left. Didn’t get to help with any of the building/ripping stuff out because no one was there. Oh well.

My Uncle says that they are about ready to start putting new stuff in now.

Fire at my cousin’s house

Saturday, May 10th, 2003

My cousin’s house caught fire on Monday. Apparently the dryer had been warm for a couple days even though it wasn’t being used. That’s what started it. Her dog and two cats were killed in the fire. The insurance hadn’t been paid on the house because she was broke, so her, her two kids, and her live in boyfriend lost everything.

My mom, Uncle, and Uncle’s half sister each owned 1/3 of the property until last year when they gave everything over to my Uncle because his daughter was living there rent free… Mom is glad she did that.

My Aunt and Uncle are involved in the AmVets, and got them to donate a total of $1250 to my cousin. The Red Cross gave $200, my grandma gave $500, the boyfriend’s mother gave $500, neighbors gave $300. Uncle works at a federally subsidized housing project and got my cousin’s family into a unit there.

Uncle and his friends are going to rebuild the house. LOTS of work to do. Here’s some pictures that I took today. The dog in one of the pictures is lucky to be alive. The boyfriend’s brother lives in the garage apartment out back and usually puts the dog in the house to be with the other pets. He was running late that day and didn’t have a chance, so the dog was in the apartment.

Could have been worse… people could have been asleep there.

Ducklings!

Tuesday, May 6th, 2003

Grandma had a duck’s nest right outside her front door, in a small flower garden. We were afraid that the eggs weren’t going to hatch because they had been there a little too long.

But today they hatched! Here are some pictures I snapped. Pardon the bluriness, digital zoom on my camera seems to do that.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get better / more pictures as mama duck lets the ducklings venture away from the nest.

2005 Mustang Prototype

Saturday, May 3rd, 2003

Here is a thread from FordPower.net with a few pictures of a 2005 Mustang prototype. Pretty slick looking car. Maybe my car will hold out for another two years and I’ll be able to get one. I love the looks of them, compared to the current Mustang.

New Mustangs

Wednesday, April 16th, 2003

New Mustangs unveiled at the New York Autoshow recently. The 40th Anniversary Mustang is pretty much an appearance package, a new Mystic appearance package for the Cobra, and a few new colors for the Mach 1. The Cobra is absolutely beautiful!

A couple more pictures can be found here.

Pictures of pigs

Saturday, April 12th, 2003

Pig pictures.

Went to a picnic at my boss’ house today. She and her husband raise prize winning pigs. There’s about 150 of em. They had a room full of trophies and ribbons and pictures of pigs that they have sold.. Some go for over $5000, and quite a few for over $1000.

The first pic is of their boar.. big ass pig! He weighs over 300lbs they say.

The piglets were born in February and weigh about 50lbs, and will be over 250 by September.

She served homemade pork BBQ, but it wasn’t as homemade as you’d think. She had to buy the meat in the store because they didn’t get any shoulders the last time they had one slaughtered.
